# Settings

> Personal preferences — language, theme, and notifications — plus the utility items at the bottom of the sidebar.

## Overview

Personal settings live in the **account menu**. Click your **email address at the bottom of the left sidebar** to open it. Everything in this menu is scoped to your own account: changing your language, theme, or notification preference never affects your teammates.

<Note>
  ProDex keeps personal preferences deliberately small. Most configuration in the platform happens where you work — on models, [pipelines](/product/data-overview), [BOMs](/product/bom-overview), and [plans](/product/planning-overview) — not in a global settings dialog.
</Note>

## The Account Menu

The menu shows your account email at the top, followed by three preferences and a sign-out action:

| Setting                   | Options             | What it does                                      |
| ------------------------- | ------------------- | ------------------------------------------------- |
| **Language** | English, Español | Switches the ProDex interface language |
| **Theme** | Light, Dark, System | Sets the color theme for the whole app |
| **Desktop notifications** | On / Off | Enables browser notifications from ProDex |
| **Logout** | — | Signs you out and returns you to the login screen |

### Language

Switching the language changes the language of the interface itself. Content you author — factory names, model names, the text of your conversations — is stored as you wrote it and is not machine-translated by this setting.

### Theme

**Light** and **Dark** apply a fixed theme; **System** follows your operating system's appearance setting, switching automatically when your OS does.

### Desktop Notifications

When enabled, ProDex can surface notifications through your browser so they reach you even when the tab is in the background. Because these are browser notifications, your browser will ask you to allow them from the site the first time you turn the setting on.

<Tip>
  Turn desktop notifications on if you often step away while [Dexter](/product/dexter/chat-and-tasks) works on longer jobs — simulation studies, data pipeline builds — so ProDex can reach you in another tab or app instead of you polling the page.
</Tip>

## The Sidebar Bottom Bar

The bottom of the sidebar groups several utility items alongside your account button:

* **Notifications**: opens an **Inbox** of organization events — most commonly activity around factory sharing, such as a factory a teammate has shared with you. This inbox is separate from the **Desktop notifications** toggle in the account menu: the toggle governs browser pop-ups, while the Inbox is an in-app list you check inside ProDex. See [Factory Management](/product/factory-management#sharing-a-factory-with-teammates) for how sharing works.
* **Feedback**: opens a form to send bug reports or suggestions directly to the ProDex team.
* **Tour**: replays the guided tour of the workspace.
* **Team** (admin-only): opens the [Admin Panel](/product/team-management) for managing members, roles, and organization-wide resources. Members do not see this item.
* **Documentation**: opens this documentation site.
* **Your account** (email address): opens the account menu described above.

<Info>
  There is no separate settings panel inside Dexter. The one Dexter-related preference in the app — desktop notifications — lives in the account menu, and Dexter's own behavior is steered through [rules and preferences](/product/dexter/rules-and-preferences) in its knowledge base rather than through toggles.
</Info>

## Your Account

Your email address is displayed at the top of the account menu but is not editable there. Accounts are managed at the organization level — to change your email or account association, contact your organization's admin. For how accounts and roles work, see [Team Management](/product/team-management).
